Time’s Up: The Power of a Deadline

August 1st, 2018

By Luke Melms

What do you think of when you hear the word deadline?

For some of us, this may cause flashbacks to all nighters in school to finish a paper. For others, it may serve as a reminder of going from one team to another via trade.

This week showed how powerful this can look like within the game as many significant deals were made in the last hours before the non-waiver deadline came to pass.

Deadlines are one of the most influential pieces that can exist in one’s life.

Whether it is baseball, business or just about anything, deadlines create action and closure for better or worse.

Baseball and Business is all about empowering athletes to win on the field and in business.

Behind the scenes there has been a lot of work going on to take this to the next level and help play a role in seeing more success stories in both landscapes.

I am excited to announce two deadlines you can count on the Baseball and Business leadership team delivering on in the near future.

1. The Baseball and Business Podcast

We will be bringing current and former pro and college players on to talk about their experiences on the baseball and business field. Our goal is to be able to give players a platform to share these stories and lessons to help inspire and equip action to be taken wherever you find yourself.

We will still be doing articles but will be infusing this new format that will complement them.

The first episode will drop September 12. Stay tuned!

2. Personal Brand Guide

One of the biggest requests has been to make a guide on the basics of getting a personal brand off the ground. We will be releasing this during the offseason when players can best make use of this and create momentum heading into the new season.

Expect to see this released November 7.

We are excited with the momentum created in the first seven months of the year and are focused on finishing the year strong.

If you just joined us, welcome to the network. If you’ve been on the journey with us for awhile, thanks for your continued support.
